| ACCUSED
family thief Massor Yusuf, of
Chesney, Corentyne, was refused
bail yesterday when Magistrate
Adela Nagamootoo upheld a Police
objection to the grant. Police
Inspector Satrohan Dayaram,
prosecuting, objecting to
pre-trial liberty for him, said
the defendant was on bail for
allegedly stealing from his
father, Azif Yusuf, when the new
offence was committed.
Previously, the remanded
prisoner faced a charge of
larceny which said he stole cash
and a cellular phone belonging
to his father and was put on
$15000 bail after the virtal
complainant said his son had
promised to work and make
restitution.
However, yesterday, at New
Amsterdam Court, also in Berbice,
Massor Yusuf pleaded not guilty
to theft from his sister,
Jennifer Sookram, who lost gold
bangles, rings, chains and
earrings, all valued $172, 500,
between April 15 and 18.
The unemployed defendant will
remain on remand through April
27.
